Tomball ISD officials celebrated the opening of the district’s new aquatic center, located on the campus of Tomball Memorial High School, with a ribbon cutting Feb. 12.

The aquatic center is part of the district’s $275 million bond referendum voters approved in November 2017. According to bond program manager Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam Inc., the 26,000-square-foot aquatic center designed by Stantec Inc. and constructed by Gamma Construction Co. contains a 25-yard stretch pool with an eight-lane competitive swimming area and separate diving area, according to a Feb. 15 release from LAN.

“We are very proud of this state-of-the-art facility and the opportunities that it will provide for our students,” TISD Chief Operating Officer Steven Gutierrez said in the release. “We thank our community for supporting the growth of the district with this facility and all of our business partners for making our vision become a reality.”

“This is one of the best high school aquatic centers in the state,” LAN Vice President JP Grom said in the release. “The design is state-of-the-art, and the amenities are great.”
