The Elgin Independent School District (ISD) celebrated the groundbreaking for its new elementary school Trinity Ranch Elementary on Tuesday, April 2, near the school’s construction site in Elgin, Texas. Trinity Ranch Elementary will be located off Grist Mill Lane and Upper Elgin River Road, just south of U.S. 290.

Trinity Ranch Elementary will be the District’s fifth elementary school and will serve students in grades Pre-K through 5th. The school will be built with state-of-the-art technology and will feature innovative designs to enhance learning experiences for students. The new elementary school is a part of the District’s $190 million bond program, which was passed by the Elgin community in November of 2021. The school’s construction budget is $33 million, the total project budget is $39 million.

LAN is the Program Manager for the District’s bond program, which encompasses a range of initiatives, including the construction of two new elementary schools, upgrades and expansion at Elgin High School, the establishment of a new Transportation Center, renovation of the Career and Technical Education facilities, a new multi-purpose activity and event center, as well as district-wide renovations.

Tim Strucely, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, LAN Associate and Program Manager for the District’s bond program, expressed his satisfaction about the project. “We are honored to have been selected as the program manager for the Elgin ISD bond program and are excited to kick off the Trinity Ranch Elementary project following the success of the Harvest Ridge Elementary project,” said Strucely. “Our team is dedicated to delivering a high-quality facility that meets the needs of the district and the community.”

Construction for Trinity Ranch Elementary kicked off earlier this year and is scheduled to open August 2025. The new school will have a capacity of 800 students, feature a library, makerspace, art room, music room, cafeteria, gymnasium, and outdoor learning spaces.

“We are thrilled to bring this new elementary school to the community,” said Dr. Jana Rueter, Elgin ISD Superintendent. “Trinity Ranch Elementary will provide students with a modern learning environment that is designed to support their academic and social-emotional growth. We are grateful to the Elgin community for their continued support and investment in our students’ futures.”

During the ceremony, members of the community, including students and educators, had the opportunity to participate in the ceremonial dirt turning, to learn more about the new school’s design and features.
