Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN), a national planning, engineering and program management firm, announces the addition of Soo M. Park, PE, as its new bridge team leader. Park brings extensive expertise in bridge engineering and has a track record of successfully delivering complex infrastructure projects. Notably, he served as bridge lead for the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Bryan District SH6 improvement project, which expanded the main lanes from four to six lanes. The project included enhanced auxiliary lane configurations, collector-distributor lanes at selected locations for safer and more efficient merging, improved interchanges for better traffic flow and shared-use paths for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Park led the design of 25 structures on the SH6 project, including bridge widening and repair, noise walls, sign structures, soil nails, drilled shaft tie-back walls and aesthetic monuments. He also contributed to major infrastructure projects such as the I-410 at I-10E interchange improvement, the 5-mile-long elevated I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) project, the North Houston Highway Improvement Project (NHHIP) segment 3C-C and various Houston-area bridge repair projects.

With a specialization in designing, constructing, inspecting, maintaining and repairing bridges, Park integrates civil engineering principles, structural analysis, material science and project management to ensure infrastructure safety, durability and functionality. In his new role, he will lead LAN’s bridge team in all aspects of structural engineering, including bridge design for vehicles, pedestrians and railroads.

“We welcome Soo as the new bridge team leader at LAN,” said Transportation Practice Leader Markus Neubauer, PE. “With his extensive expertise in bridge design, structural engineering and project leadership, Soo will be pivotal in driving innovation and delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions for our clients. His leadership will strengthen our transportation division’s ability to tackle complex challenges and advance our commitment to building resilient and sustainable infrastructure. We look forward to his valuable contributions to execute our bridge team’s strategic plan together,” he added.

As bridge team leader, Park will oversee key initiatives such as marketing, pursuits, business development, client relationship management, structural analysis, structural design, training and recruiting. He will also serve as a champion for LAN’s quality improvement Initiative, further reinforcing the firm’s commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
