TCU Arc Flash Studies and Electrical Load Studies

Fort Worth Texas

Since 2006, LAN has performed multiple projects to document, model, and analyze the medium voltage distribution system and connected facilities at TCU’s 4.3 million SF campus. This work has included performing arc flash studies for 35 buildings and developing a five year Arc Flash Safety Plan. LAN continues to update the model annually to reflect changes caused by construction projects on campus.

After developing the campus electrical distribution system one line diagram, LAN evaluated current loads, voltage and fault response, and the impact of future development at TCU’s campus. LAN analyzed TCU’s electrical energy demand and provided recommendations to improve load handling capability in order to allow campus electrical systems to grow with enrollment growth. Recommendations included adding a third utility point of delivery for the for west campus to accommodate future growth.
