Statewide ADA Assessments – TxDOT
Statewide TX
In keeping with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) initiative to adhere to the Federal mandate to bring all state facilities into compliance with the 2010 Civil Rights Accessibility requirements, TxDOT called on LAN to complete a comprehensive evaluation of 2,600+ structures across the state in less than six months.
The primary focus of this effort was a system-level accessibility assessment of the facilities to provide TxDOT with a method to rank and prioritize facility and site renovations required to comply with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). TxDOT required an objective means to evaluate, rank, and budget renovations for accommodation and accessibility of its buildings and sites for both TxDO employees and the public visiting its facilities. LAN mobilized five teams to visit each site and assess the accessible routes for site arrival and within the site, access to goods and services and public accommodation provided by the facilities and architectural elements.
LAN successfully performed the comprehensive accessibility assessment of TxDOT facilities across the 254 counties in the state in less than half the originally budgeted time.
