Luling ISD – Bond Program Management
Luling Texas
LAN was the program manager for Luling ISD’s $31.9 million bond program. The bond package included a new pre-K to fifth-grade campus at the Shanklin site, renovation of the existing 2003 campus building, and renovations at Gerdes Junior High School.
The new $23.6 million, two-story facility accommodates 800 pre-K to fifth-grade students, has 41 classrooms, two playgrounds, a gymnasium, media center, cafeteria, kitchen, and administrative offices. The elementary school also incorporates several life-safety and security enhancement measures to resist potential active shooter intrusions, including:
- Bullet-resistant glass at areas of high visibility from the exterior
- Recessed doorways leading to the classrooms; this will pockets of visibility protection as opposed to long uninterrupted corridors
- Vehicle barricades at the main entrance
- Secondary, end-of-corridor security vestibule in addition to the one at the main entrance to the administrative suite, using access control hardware
- Perimeter fencing to surround the property where new playgrounds are situated
- Adjoined classrooms and breakout rooms that enable student movement between classrooms out of the corridor sight lines
“Our district has come to trust LAN as a true advocate for our needs while working with the other teammates to our bond program. As a virtual extension of our district staff, they allow me and my team to focus on the most important parts of our regular work: teaching the students of our district.” – Superintendent Erin Warren, Luling ISD
