LAN co-authored the Harris County Flood Controls District’s (HCFCD) 2-Dimensional modeling standards entitled “Harris County Two-Dimensional Modeling Guidelines.” The 2-Dimensional (2D) Modeling Guidelines establishes standards for the submittal of the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) 2D models submitted to HCFCD to maintain consistency in the approach, parameters, and supporting data used in the engineering community.

LAN’s specific roles included the development, modeling, and documentation of 2D sheet flow examples consisting of a sensitivity analysis to infiltration and roughness values, as well as recommended methods for selecting n-values based on flood depth under Pre- and Post-Project conditions. When published, these guidelines will become the first official 2D modeling guidelines adopted by a major agency within the Texas.
