Galveston ISD District-Wide Facility Condition Assessment

Galveston Texas

LAN performed a comprehensive facilities assessment which included detailed engineering, architectural, and facility quality evaluations of all District-owned assets, totaling to 1.5 million SF. The project included a report and an online asset database populated and delivered to the District. LAN’s report provided a narrative summary of the database contents and included details of observed conditions, recommendations, and repair requirements for District-owned facilities.

The District relied on the assessment and information collected during the recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. Facilities included in the assessment ranged from new construction to those dating back to the 1930s. The assessment of space included instructional, administrative, and athletic facilities comprised of a wide range of construction types from metal building to concrete tilt-wall construction. Facility replacement costs, needs backlog, and target funding requirements were all part of the information reported to the District.

“I would highly recommend LAN when it comes to educational facility-related needs and specifically for facility condition assessment work and planning. They provide a solid and responsive team that is knowledgeable of the processes and procedures that go into the complex work that is required of building condition assessments.”
