In May of 2012, Brenham ISD voters supported a $25.9 million bond to build a new elementary school and provide complete additions and renovations at the District’s middle school campus. LAN provided support throughout the process; from conception in planning to the bond passage, to construction completion.

The new school replaced a campus of spread out and aging facilities with a creatively designed building that brings all educational space under one roof. The layout of the school not only considered the saving of established oak and pecan trees on the redeveloped site but a design that mirrored the original Brenham ISD High School; a historic facility across the street and just down the road from the City’s revitalized downtown area.

Middle school facilities went through several additions and renovations prior to the 2012 Bond work and the front half of the school was beginning to show signs of the poor structural condition. The decision to salvage instructional spaces and move forward with a comprehensive additions and renovations project proved significant cost savings to the District versus building a completely new school. In order to continue educating the District’s middle school students on the campus, construction was carried out in two phases; the addition of the new library, cafetorium, kitchen, and administrative spaces was carried out during the school year while demolition and significant renovation of classroom spaces took place over the summer.

In total, 170,000 SF of school facilities were either constructed or extensively renovated through the bond program.
