Melissa Mack, PE, PMP, Receives Prestigious Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award at 2025 Texas Water Conference

Melissa Mack, PE, PMP, vice president at Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN), has received the Kenneth J. Miller Water for People Founders’ Award during the 2025 Texas Water Conference, held on March 20 in Houston, Texas.

The award, established in 2001 by the Water for People Board of Directors, recognizes individuals who make significant volunteer contributions toward achieving universal access to safe, reliable water and sanitation. Named in honor of Kenneth J. Miller of Denver, a founding member and the organization’s first president, the award highlights outstanding service in support of global water initiatives.

In Texas, the award is administered by the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT) and was presented as part of the Texas Water Conference, co-hosted by WEAT and the Texas Section of the American Water Works Association (TAWWA). The award honors volunteers who demonstrate exceptional dedication, leadership and impact in the water sector.

“I’m deeply honored to receive the Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award,” Mack said. “It’s a privilege to support Water for People’s mission to bring sustainable change to communities in need. Access to clean water is a vital human right and I’m thrilled to be part of the effort to make that a reality.”

With more than 25 years of experience, Mack is a vice president at LAN and serves as senior technical advisor for water system planning and modeling. She specializes in water and wastewater infrastructure, with expertise in hydraulic modeling, master planning, pump station design and project management. Her portfolio includes large-scale, complex projects aimed at addressing current infrastructure challenges and planning for future development.

Throughout her career, Mack has led key initiatives involving water distribution system planning, design and condition assessment. Her leadership and technical expertise have contributed to lasting improvements in water systems across multiple communities.

Mack holds a Master of Science in hydrology for environmental management from Imperial College, University of London and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is a licensed professional engineer in Texas and a certified project management professional.
