Profile

Retired Col. Lars Zetterstrom has a distinguished 26-year career with the U.S. Army in various leadership roles. He served as district commander of the US Army Corps of Engineers Galveston District’s $1 billion annual program, providing civil works, federal construction, and environmental restoration across a 50,000-square-mile area. During this assignment, he was responsible for federal water resources and environmental regulatory programs, including operations and maintenance, flood risk management, recreation, and navigation in coastal Texas. His background also includes federal and state disaster response and recovery, and homeland defense operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

He is currently serving as Senior Engineer for the Harris County Flood Control District’s $600M Halls Bayou Program, which includes detention basin and channel improvement projects to mitigate flood risk.
