Lars Zetterstrom, PE, Named 1st Vice Chair of Houston Wilderness

Engineering, planning and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) announces that Lars Zetterstrom, PE, vice president and manager of Federal Programs, has been appointed as the 1st vice chair of Houston Wilderness, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the diverse ecoregions of the Greater Houston area.

As 1st vice chair of Houston Wilderness, Zetterstrom will support board operations, assume leadership responsibilities in the chair’s absence and serve as the primary candidate to succeed the chair when their term ends.

Houston Wilderness works jointly with a broad alliance of business, environmental and governmental interests to preserve the 10 diverse ecoregions of the 13+ county area encompassing Houston, Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Aided by multiple stakeholders, the organization implements collaborative environmental policy, secures funding, provides education and facilitates on-the-ground ecosystem services.

A retired U.S. Army Colonel, Zetterstrom brings decades of leadership and engineering expertise, including serving as district commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Galveston District, overseeing a billion-dollar civil works, construction and environmental restoration program across a 50,000-square-mile region.
