Houston Chronicle Names LAN as a 2021 Top Workplace
Planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) has been named a top workplace in Houston Chronicle’s 2021 Top Workplaces. LAN was ranked 43rd among midsize companies (150-499 employees) in the Houston metro region. More than 240 companies participated in this year’s contest under the small, midsize, and large company categories. The awards were presented on November 11th at the Omni Houston Hotel.
The award is based solely on the feedback offered through a confidential employee survey administered by Energage, a workplace research and consulting firm. This year, Energage received more than 100,000 survey responses from employees of participating companies. The survey focuses on several critical culture drivers, including organizational alignment, effectiveness, connection, “my manager”, employee engagement, leadership, work-life balance, job expectations, salary, training, and benefits.
“It is incredible to receive such an honor especially after the difficult year we have been through due to COVID 19,” said Wayne Swafford, P.E., LAN’s president. “We owe this honor to our employees who have built a culture that is focused on high-quality work and innovative solutions, collaboration and inclusion among employees, and accountability both to the client and to each other.”
“What makes this year’s designation especially rewarding is that we listened to employee feedback from our last survey,” said Amy Abdallah, LAN’s vice president and director of talent development. “Based on this feedback, we implemented a number of initiatives to improve the employee experience. As a result, we saw a significant increase in our engagement results this year.”
