Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District (GCCISD) marked the official opening of two major facilities with ribbon-cutting ceremonies held on April 15 and May 7. The ceremonies celebrated the completion of key projects from the district’s 2019 bond program. National planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) oversaw both projects.
On April 15, district leaders, staff and community members gathered to celebrate the new Professional Development Center (PDC) opening, a 21,000-square-foot professional development facility in Baytown. Designed to serve nearly 4,000 district employees, the single-story center is equipped to host workshops, training seminars, conferences and community events.
The PDC features a 9,000-square-foot conference room that can be subdivided into smaller spaces, offering flexibility for events of all sizes. The center also houses a 2,500-square-foot catering kitchen with commercial-grade cooking equipment, a walk-in cooler and freezer, food prep and storage areas and staff facilities.
“The PDC will be a vital resource for staff training and a valuable venue for our community,” said Clement Medina, LAN’s project manager, during the ceremony. The center is expected to become one of the largest event spaces in the Baytown area.
On May 7, GCCISD celebrated the opening of its new 19,000-square-foot athletic field house at Stallworth Stadium. Serving the district’s three high schools—Goose Creek Memorial, Sterling and Lee—and six junior high schools, the facility includes home and visitor locker rooms, each with training rooms and coaches’ offices. It will also serve as the district’s athletic department’s new headquarters.
“Today marks a proud moment for Goose Creek CISD as we celebrate the opening of our new field house and professional development center—both shining examples of what vision, community support and dedication can build.” said Clement Medina, LAN’s project manager.
Together, the new Professional Development Center and Athletic Field House represent Goose Creek CISD’s continued investment in excellence. They equip staff with cutting-edge professional development resources and provide student-athletes with enhanced facilities to support their growth on and off the field. These milestone projects underscore the district’s commitment to fostering a thriving educational environment for the entire Baytown community.
