Alex Torres, PE, joins LAN as Senior Project Manager for Transportation Group

Alex Torres, PE, has joined planning, engineering, and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN). Based in the San Antonio office, Torres will serve as Senior Project Manager for the Transportation group.
In this role, Torres will lead roadway design teams focusing on enhancing the overall quality of transportation projects, expanding expertise in 3D modeling, and guiding overall technical development. With more than 17 years of experience in roadway design and project management, Torres will bring a wealth of experience to LAN’s transportation group in areas including feasibility studies, schematic design, plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E), 3D modeling and environmental reevaluation projects.

Torres has previous experience working for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), where he oversaw significant multi-million-dollar transportation projects. As a project manager, Torres was responsible for overseeing the completion of various transportation projects at other engineering firms. This included the schematic for the San Antonio US 281 North Expansion and the Walker County Systems Engineer Plan (SEP) for the 12-mile reconstruction of Interstate Highway 45. Torres’ role involved effective coordination of design disciplines, conducting risk assessments, performing alternative analyses and implementing innovative designs. In his career, Torres has delivered more than $1.1 billion in TxDOT construction projects.
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Torres is an active member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
