31st Annual Street Olympics

The Harris County Precinct 1 Street Olympics, originally founded by the late Commissioner El Franco Lee, celebrated its 31st Anniversary this year. The program begins with more than 3000 students from community based youth groups such as YMCA and local summer programs competing in "Olympic like" events, followed by a tradeshow like atmosphere where students can learn about businesses in the community.

LAN has a long history of volunteering at the event and providing the children with more information about a future career in engineering. Dennis Petersen has been a long-time advocate of the program serving as a chair and member of the Street Olympics Committee.
