Profile
Mr. Swafford is the President of planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN). In this role, he is responsible for the direction and operation of LAN.
A structural engineer with more than 30 years of experience, Swafford has managed the operations and finances of several organizations. Previously, he served Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. as its vice president of facility operations where he was responsible for the planning, design and construction of a $4 billion multi-year capital program. In addition, he was responsible for the operations of 140 facilities. Prior to that, he served AECOM Technology Corporation as a senior vice president responsible for planning and design of transportation infrastructure in the Midwest, Southeast and Eastern United States.
He served as on the Civil Engineering Alumni board advisors, University of Illinois for nearly a decade. He also has served professional organizations in various capacities, including chairing American Society of Civil Engineers’ transportation and project management groups in Chicago, and as a vice president and board of director of the American Consulting Engineers Council of Illinois.
