Three LAN Projects Recognized in ENR Texas & Southeast 2026 Best Projects Awards
Three LAN projects have been recognized in Engineering News-Record’s (ENR) 2026 Texas & Southeast Best Projects competition, earning two Best Project awards and one Award of Merit.
The annual competition recognizes outstanding achievements in design and construction across the region. This year, ENR’s industry judges selected 44 projects for Best Projects honors in Texas. The projects will be recognized at ENR’s Texas & Louisiana Regional Best Projects Awards luncheon on Oct. 28 in Houston.
Tomball West High School - Best Project | K-12 Education
Tomball West High School received the Best Project award in the K-12 Education category.
Built for Tomball ISD in Cypress, the approximately 550,000-square-foot campus accommodates approximately 3,000 students and brings academic, fine arts, athletics, and career and technical education programs together within one facility. Developed as the centerpiece of the district’s 68-acre west-side educational complex, the campus addresses continued enrollment growth while establishing the infrastructure and design framework for future development. The project was completed on schedule and approximately $3.65 million below the construction bid.
Central Regional Wastewater System Jefferson Tunnel Junction Box Replacement and Improvements - Award of Merit | Small Project
The Central Regional Wastewater System Jefferson Tunnel Junction Box Replacement and Improvements received an Award of Merit in the Small Project category.
Completed for the Trinity River Authority of Texas in Grand Prairie, the project addressed the structural failure of a nearly 60-foot-deep wastewater junction box that caused surrounding soils to collapse and form a sinkhole. Temporary stabilization was completed within six months while wastewater service continued uninterrupted. Rather than replace the deteriorated structure in kind, the permanent improvements eliminated the junction box, realigned approximately 1,050 linear feet of 36- to 72-inch interceptors, and consolidated three lines into a single conveyance system. The new configuration reduces turbulence and corrosion risk, improves hydraulic performance, and supports the reliable conveyance of approximately 68 million gallons of wastewater per day.
Lake Ralph Hall Pipeline, Balancing Reservoir and Delivery Point - Best Project | Water/Environment
The Lake Ralph Hall Pipeline, Balancing Reservoir and Delivery Point received the Best Project award in the Water/Environment category.
Developed for the Upper Trinity Regional Water District in Fannin County, the $474 million raw water conveyance system established critical infrastructure for delivering a new regional water supply. The program included an 80-million-gallon-per-day raw water pump station, an 80-million-gallon balancing reservoir, a delivery point, and more than 32 miles of 66- and 72-inch pipeline. Route analysis and optimization improved the previously conceived pipeline alignment and produced more than $5 million in savings. The completed system represents a major component of one of the largest new water supply projects in North Texas.
