Sheldon ISD Celebrates Opening of New C.E. King 9th & 10th Grade Campus
Sheldon Independent School District celebrated the opening of its new C.E. King 9th & 10th Grade Campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 23, marking a major milestone in the district's long-term investment in educational facilities to serve its rapidly growing community. The new campus was funded through the district's voter-approved $247.7 million 2022 bond program and will welcome students for the 2026–27 school year.
Located on Sheldon Community Drive adjacent to C.E. King High School for 11th & 12th grade students, the 384,000-square-foot campus was designed to serve approximately 2,500 ninth- and 10th-grade students, helping relieve overcrowding at the existing high school while supporting the district's continued growth. Designed with full academic facilities, collaborative learning spaces, performing arts areas, a library, cafeteria and gymnasium, the campus provides students with the resources needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
The campus is one of several projects included in Sheldon ISD's 2022 bond program, which also includes campus additions, safety and security improvements, technology upgrades and other facility enhancements across the district.
Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) serves as program manager for the district's 2022 bond program, providing comprehensive services from pre-bond planning through construction.

King 9th & 10th Grade Campus represents years of planning and collaboration to prepare for the district's continued growth," said JP Grom, AIA, LEED AP, PMP, CCM, senior vice president and business group director of Program Management at LAN. "This campus provides students and educators with a modern learning environment designed to support academic success today while offering flexibility to meet the district's future needs."
