Tomball West High School Earns ENR Texas & Southeast Best Project Award

Tomball West High School has received a Best Project award in the K-12 Education category in Engineering News-Record’s 2026 Texas & Southeast Best Projects competition. The approximately 550,000-square-foot campus was completed in May 2026 and opened to students for the 2026–2027 school year.

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) served as program manager for the project, working with Tomball ISD, architect Huckabee and Gamma Construction Company to deliver the district’s third comprehensive high school in Cypress. The high school is the centerpiece of Tomball ISD’s 68-acre west-side educational complex, which also includes an elementary school, junior high school and agricultural science barn. The school was one of the major projects funded through Tomball ISD’s voter-approved 2021 bond program, which was developed to accommodate continued enrollment growth across the district.

Designed to support academics, athletics, fine arts and career and technical education, the campus includes three gymnasiums, a major auditorium, extensive athletic facilities, collaborative student spaces and specialized CTE areas supporting programs such as dentistry, welding and carpentry.

The campus features a cohesive design and pedestrian connections linking the high school to surrounding athletic facilities and campus amenities

ENR’s Texas & Southeast Best Projects competition recognizes outstanding achievements in design and construction across the region. Tomball West High School will be recognized at ENR’s Texas & Louisiana Regional Best Projects Awards luncheon Oct. 28 in Houston.
