Northeast Transmission Line Recognized at the ASCE 2025 OCEA Gala

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) joined Houston Public Works and project partners at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 2025 Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) Gala, where the Northeast Transmission Line (NETL) received an Honor Award for its innovation and lasting impact on the Houston region.

The OCEA Gala, hosted annually by ASCE, celebrates exemplary civil engineering achievements that improve quality of life and contribute to the advancement of the profession. This year’s event highlighted projects from across the nation that demonstrate engineering excellence, sustainability, and meaningful community benefit.

Representatives from LAN attended the gala alongside Houston Public Works and other industry partners to celebrate the recognition of the NETL program—a transformational infrastructure initiative that strengthens Houston’s surface water system and supports a more resilient future for the region.

As one of the largest water transmission programs in Houston’s history, the NETL conveys up to 365 million gallons of treated surface water per day, reducing groundwater reliance, mitigating subsidence, and ensuring reliable service for generations to come.

The OCEA Honor Award underscores the engineering excellence, innovation, and community-driven focus that define the NETL program and the teams that brought it to completion.
