Mr. Grom is an experienced architect, project manager, and program manager with a long history of delivering quality program solutions to clients in the education market. As the leader of LAN’s Program Management Business Group, he oversees the delivery of all Program Management services for multi-year, complex bond programs for K-12 school districts throughout Texas. Mackrena Ramos
Mackrena Ramos, P.E.
Vice President, SWTP Program Manager
Mackrena Ramos joined LAN in 1999 and has 21 years of engineering experience in large diameter water main design including management of the Surface Water Transmission Program. The City of Houston’s Surface Water Transmission Program (SWTP) was established in 1985 and includes more than 300 miles of pipelines with a construction cost of over $660M. Mackrena is the SWTP Program Manager and is responsible for meeting Program budgets and deadlines as well as tracking performance measures. She supervises the work of design consultants, professional and technical personnel, the review and approval of designs and related construction changes, and is the liaison with the client. Projects and services provided in the Program include trenchless design such as tunneling, horizontal directional drilling, and slip lining; corrosion design and commissioning; hydraulic and transient analysis; construction phase services; and condition assessment of the existing water system. Sima Vajdani, P.E., is Vice President and Business Group Director – California. With offices in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Orange County, Oakland, and Milpitas, Sima leads the firm’s rapidly expanding practice in the state and is charged with overseeing and coordinating business development efforts, production activities, and operations. Sima has more than 30 years of engineering, project delivery, construction, and management experience. She has served public and private sector clients throughout the western United States on a range of water and transportation infrastructure projects, including mass transit, water/wastewater, highways, ports, airports, bridges and special structures. Previously, she served in leadership roles where she has helped set firms apart in a changing marketplace. She served as President, CEO and Founder of McInfra, a company focused on providing consulting services to the water and transportation infrastructure community. Tim has 33 years of experience in the construction and design industry, with a specific focus on rail and transit systems. He has served in diverse roles from designer to construction manager for multi-million-dollar rail projects, including light rail, commuter rail, and bus/bus rapid transit projects, providing a comprehensive understanding of the complexities associated with multi-faceted transit projects. This diverse experience brings our rail and transit clients a leader who understands both the design and construction hurdles, helping clients clear those hurdles in timely manner bringing projects in on time. He has worked closely with Class 1 and short-line railroads, the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, and the California Public Utilities Commission, to name a few. Tim is wrapping up his role as Deputy Design Manager for the largest public works and passenger rail expansion project in the Northern California, the $775-million BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Design-Build Project. He was also program manager and technical expert for construction of two of the five existing DMU (diesel multiple unit) projects in the U.S., one of which received the first alternatively compliant waiver from the FRA, allowing the DMU to mix with freight.
