GSI Lumonics
Maple Grove, Minnesota
The building is split into separate office and manufacturing space, differentiated by color. The office component includes a product display center for customers, with a long, narrow skylight providing daylighting through the midsection. The manufacturing area is a large, flexible, open space allowing assembly teams to move from station to station. Isolation pads are used to inhibit effects of vibrations resulting from workers moving from one station to another. Other innovations such as structures and flooring were selected to help maintain a “clean” environment, preventing dust and static electricity from affecting laser circuits.
