Park Place Boulevard Improvements – Gulfgate TIRZ 8

Houston Texas

LAN designed a roadway resurfacing project along Park Place Boulevard from IH-45 and SH 3 to promote redevelopment throughout the Gulfgate District. The project is a partnership between the City of Houston and TIRZ 8 and includes roadway resurfacing, new 8-foot wide sidewalks, two pedestrian actuated traffic signals, new and upgraded METRO bus stops with shelters, street lighting, roadway restriping, and signal upgrades at SH 3.

To meet Gulfgate District’s vision of transforming Park Place Boulevard into a major east-west connecting corridor, LAN coordinated with METRO for the purchase, delivery, and installation of new METRO bus shelters. The project included additional coordination with local business stakeholders; schools; members of the public including direct outreach in tandem with TIRZ staff and City of Houston Council Member Robert Gallegos (District I); and the Houston Parks Board both to connect to the Botanic Gardens. Construction was also sequenced to coincide with the Garden’s opening.
