As a Vice President and Business Group Director of LAN’s Facilities Group, Mr. Waterfield is responsible for the implementation of quality assurance procedures on projects involving design and support for institutional, commercial, governmental, and industrial facilities.

Joe has nearly 50 years of electrical engineering experience and more than two decades with LAN. Under his leadership, the firm has worked on a vast array of project types such as transit systems, research and development facilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, material handling systems, distributed logic environmental monitoring and control, university utility distribution, aviation, food distribution, and more.

Joe’s success stems from a client-first approach developed from a decade of experience managing a manufacturing business and 33 years as an engineering consultant. He sees clients’ objectives from their perspective and matches resources with the requirements to meet those objectives. This approach, combined with his expertise in leading multi-disciplined design teams, consultants and contractors, has helped LAN manage significant projects such as:

  • Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) Terminal E Rehabilitation Program

In addition to being licensed as a professional engineer in 46 states, Joe is also a LEED-accredited professional, registered communication distribution designer, certified energy manager, energy auditor, measurement and verification professional, and a green building engineer. His sensitivity to environmental impacts and practical appreciation of operational issues is reflected in his project approach.
