Profile

As a professional structural engineer, Mr. Patel leads the analysis and design of complex projects that involve unique challenges associated with environmental and dynamic loading associated with hurricane force winds, flooding and seismic events. Ashish is particularly knowledgeable in hurricane imposed storm surge loading and has a keen appreciation for dynamic wave action effects. Ashish understands a structures’ response to earthquake loads. He is also able to predict and comprehend structural behavior to environmental loads when buildings are configured with horizontal and vertical irregularities. Ashish is technically strong in condition assessments and forensic analysis. As a Houstonian, Ashish is passionate about ensuring that structures in coastal environments are designed, detailed and constructed with safeguard and resilience against potential flood hazard. He applies conscientious and cost-effective mitigation techniques in his designs that meet or exceed code-minimum mandates.

Ashish’s in-depth knowledge of both structural and geotechnical engineering facilitates his analysis and design of structural systems that involve soil-structure interaction.

He has experience and expertise with many sophisticated numerical modeling and analysis software including STAAD, RAM-Steel, RISA, ANSYS, MATLAB and SupportIT. Ashish has performed many analyses using finite element analysis (FEA).

Ashish is well versed in the International Building Code and several of its referenced standards including ASCE 7 (Minimum Design Loads for Building and Other Structures) and ASCE 24 (Flood Resistant Design and Construction). He is thoroughly familiar with codes and commentaries including ACI 318, ACI 350, ACI 530, AISC 303 and AISC 360, and publications from PCA, PCI and FEMA.
