Charles Shumate, P.E., Joins LAN as Regional Director

(HOUSTON – July 05, 2016) Charles M. Shumate, P.E., joins planning, engineering and program management firm Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) as a regional director. In this role, Shumate will manage the firm’s Houston Infrastructure Group.
Shumate has more than 30 years of consulting engineering experience in water, wastewater and storm water systems. His expertise ranges from concept development to data collection and analyses, planning, and development of cost models, capital improvement programs, and reports. Previously, he served as a project manager for Brown & Gay Engineers. Prior to that, he worked as LAN’s project engineer for 20 years.

Shumate has served public and private sector clients throughout Texas, including the San Jacinto River Authority, North Fort Bend Water Authority, West Harris County Regional Water Authority, City of Houston, City of Austin, City of Sugar Land, as well as a number of Harris County Municipal Utility Districts.

“Charles has a unique blend of leadership and technical skills, as well as extensive experience working with clients throughout the state,” said Arnie Cohen, P.E., LAN’s vice president. “His addition will further strengthen the firm’s expertise and allow us to exceed the level of service that our clients expect.”

Shumate is actively involved in various organizations, including the American Water Works Association, Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers. He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University. Shumate is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
